About Colin O’Banion

Seventeen years as a physical therapist specializing in outpatient orthopedic therapy in New York City taught me a lot about people. With time I realized my training as a doctor of physical therapy did not introduce me to the complexity of life’s interdependent systems. If I wanted to help my clients get to the root of their unique health issues that often manifested in physical pain I needed a more expansive skillset.

An early interest in “alternative” healing brought me to study classical Chinese medicine, and with my mentor I developed an effective clinical approach melding eastern and western ideologies and techniques. Treating clients in this way opened my eyes to the power of integrative medicine.

As a physical therapist in my own clinic, I had the advantage of spending hours with each client, which is rare in today’s detached healthcare system. I got to know the people I was treating—their histories, relationships, dreams, fears, and lifestyles. My clients were ultimately my greatest teachers. Their questions motivated me to seek a way to better support their comprehensive healing, and I found this in Balance Protocol.

Recently relocating to Boulder, CO, with my wife Gillian and our three young boys, I fill my soul with nature—regularly running trails, hiking, and camping. I practice qi gong and Tai Chi and enjoy the energy of playing competitive soccer. I work virtually with my clients, and will soon be opening another health and wellness clinic here in northern Colorado.

My goal is to help clients resolve chronic illness, prevent future illness, and maximize mental, emotional, and physical performance. All in all, I seek to unearth the happiness and purpose that lies within each of us.
